About the Position: This training program is located at McNary Lock and Dam, a hydroelectric generating facility that includes hydropower, navigation, fish passage and recreation activities. The project spans the Columbia River near the town of Umatilla, Oregon, approximately 10 miles north of Hermiston, Oregon and 30 miles south of Kennewick, Washington.
Duties
Serves as a Hydropower Apprentice Program instructor/administrator, which includes a wide range of systems that require thorough familiarity with the full range of basic engineering sciences and hydropower principles.
Develops lesson plans and makes additional assignments to produce a broad knowledge of the projects equipment and operations.
Coordinates and schedules with the Senior Electricians, Mechanics, Operators, the Training Officer and Operational Project Managers (OPM) for substantial and progressive shop assignments paralleling class and independent study material.
Prepares/obtains audiovisual and web-based training programs to reinforce or supplement written information on all pertinent phases of power plant, turbine/generator, and spillway control operations,.
Designs and implements instructional materials and training aids to develop skills and knowledge in students, which are necessary for the installation and repair of various types of technical equipment.
Develops, with the assistance of craft Subject Matter Experts (SME), a test bank of written, oral and practical phase evaluations applicable to the apprenticeship training objectives outlined in the respective trade's qualification cards.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
