VOTED 2022 BEST PLACE FOR WORKING PARENTS About the Position: This position is located at McNary Project, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and situated on the Columbia River, near the town of Umatilla OR. This Project provides hydroelectric generation, navigation, fish passage and recreation.

Duties

Responsible for the independent accomplishment of managerial and technical work involving the overall maintenance of hydropower, fish, navigation, and visitor facilities. As a principal assistant to the Operations Manager, participates fully in the planning of future work and projects, including project rehabilitation and research. Plans, directs and coordinates through subordinate supervisors and crew foremen the activities of electrical, mechanical, structural, and general maintenance personnel in the performance of maintenance and construction hired labor work. Coordinates new, proposed, and current construction activities by other agencies and the Corps. Coordinate civil engineering for proposed modification of design to existing equipment. Conceive and direct Project mechanical/electrical systems test programs. Review supply and construction contract plans and specifications for technical accuracy and sufficiency.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing three out of the six following duties: 1) Hydropower experience, 2) Ability to prepare and present briefings, 3) Maintenance engineering experience, 4) Set scope deadlines, priorities, practices and procedures for maintenance program 5) Experience representing any agency/company in front of stakeholders and other agencies/companies, 6) Experience in the regional power system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities ManagementHuman Capital ManagementInspection, Test, and Measurement TechniquesProgram/Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
