You will serve as a Technician in the Combat Systems Safety Branch; Systems Safety Engineering Division; Electromagnetic & Sensor Systems Department of NAVSURFWARCENDLD.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. NT-05 is equivalent to GS-13/14.
This position is salary capped GS-13 Step 10 (currently $145,617). See "Additional Information" section.
Duties
You will provide system safety engineering for Naval Combat Systems and supporting elements.
You will prepare Technical Data Packages.
You will prepare and deliver Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) presentations.
You will effectively communicate safety issues, assessment, and risks both orally and in written format to program sponsors, managers, and technical leadership.
You will identify, document and track resolution of safety anomalies and issues.
You will interface with developers, In-Service Engineering Agents, Integration Managers, Technical Warrant Holders, Safety Leadership and the fleet regarding safety plans, procedures, issues and resolutions.
You will apply operational and safety experience toward the system safety analysis and assessment of engagement, combat, and/or platform systems.
You will conduct and document appropriate system safety hazard analyses on hardware, software, and/or firmware systems, in accordance with MIL-STD-882, DoD and other required guidance and policy.
You will plan and generate system safety plans and other documentation required for the proper communication, execution, and tracking of system safety programs.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing engineering technical work involving development, test & evaluation, integration, troubleshooting, or systems safety for naval ships or naval combat systems.
