This Program Support Assistant's positions are in Business Office services at the Boston VA Healthcare Systems. This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week.
Duties
The position serves as a Program Support Assistant Lead under the Support Services section under the Business Office at the VA Boston Healthcare System. The incumbent may be assigned to work irregular tours of duty including evenings, weekends and holiday.
Incumbents of this position may be in any of the following campuses: West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, or Brockton.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provides educational sessions to train new employees and continuing education for established staff in mailroom, telephone operation, and reproduction duties, equipment uses, and safety protocols.
Assist Supervisor with service staff schedule and maintaining appropriate coverage in each unit.
Provide resolution and information for minor customer and staff issues. Keep supervisor abreast of staff performance, workload, and service issues.
Monitor work progress and service LEAF requests. Produce mail expenditure reports and reproduction reports for supervisor.
Serve as safety officer for section and monitor working conditions and overall environment. Refer to supervisor for safety issues.
Serve as first level timekeeper for service.
Work Schedule: Varying tours: 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 am, 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-03. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility MUST be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support for an office; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; ordering and maintaining office supplies; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position AND the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Transcripts MUST be submitted at the time of application.

You must have a combination of specialized experience and post high school education beyond the second year, which may be used to meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. Physical Requirements: The primary work environment will be in an office setting.
