This position is in the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), Office of Science Communications and Outreach Branch (SCOB).

Duties

This position is located in the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). The NIAMS conducts research in its laboratories and clinical facilities, directs research carried out under contract, provides grant support of research and research training in non-Federal institutions in the United States and abroad, and cooperates with other Institutes and Federal agencies. In this position your duties will include the following: Manage the daily operations of the Institute's internet properties and serve as consultant across the organization on web best practices. Develop digital communication plans to deliver content to various key agency audiences. Coordinate and carry out the Institute's social media activities in alignment with its overall communications strategies. Expertly write and/or edit a wide array of digital content using plain language principles, structured content, and the "bite, snack, meal" approach for digestible content, ensuring appropriateness for key audiences and specific digital platforms. Use a content management system and/or work with contractors to post content on digital and social media platforms. Consult on the development of new or redesigned digital content to ensure implementation of policies, standards, and best practices; ensures that digital products are readable, of high visual quality, consumer-friendly, and in concert with NIAMS' mission and programs; and ensures content that is managed is Section 508 compliant and accessible to all. Work with multiple stakeholders at all levels to juggle priorities and help determine the best digital approach for the agency, with an eye on reaching key audiences. Apply metrics and campaign tagging to set goals, enhance digital work, and incorporate the best analytics, search and site improvement techniques.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Developing digital and social media content; Monitoring digital and social media analytics to make recommendations on digital and social media content strategies; Using appropriate methods to increase engagement on social media platforms and improve web metrics; and Using content management systems to develop and post content for digital platforms. You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing digital and social media content expertise and skilled technical assistance to leadership and organization; monitoring digital analytics and key activities to make recommendations on digital and social media content strategies; advising on appropriate ways to increase engagement with social media national audiences and improved web metrics; monitoring workflow of digital and social media content through established tools such as content management systems to ensure accuracy, and appropriate language and tone; and Writing and editing user-centered content with a focus on digital platforms.
