You will serve as a Visual Information Specialist of NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY.

Duties

You will plan and design the overall appearance of exhibits. You will produce a variety of visual materials for public outreach programs, museum educational curricula, and marketing/image enhancement programs. You will produce the full range of visual materials necessary to prepare finished exhibits. You will develop a working database of museum design information.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using the tools and equipment associated with the work of a Visual Information Specialist to produce and maintain a variety of museum exhibit products ranging from single tabletop displays to entire exhibit programs, performing most of the following: 1) Planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; 2) Developing and maintaining visual content and museum exhibits using computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop and/or AutoCAD; 3) Working with a team to assist in planning, creating, editing and producing museum exhibits including conceptual design, scripts, art work, etc.; and 4) Advising on the kinds of material and equipment used to design museum exhibits. Experience must be in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position being filled. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

A master's or equivalent graduate degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled.
OR
Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled.
OR
I have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. Education must be related to the position being filled.
