About the position: This position will be assigned to the 773 FSS IT Department on JBER, AK. This is a Regular Full-Time position. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Duties

Serves as the Information Systems Security Specialist and provides guidance and instruction to users and other Information Technology (IT) specialists. Works under the guidance of the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). Assist the ISSO with the Cybersecurity and PCI Security Programs. Under the guidance of the ISSO, implements information security policy to comply with management, organizational, DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies, and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). Ensures the integration of cybersecurity and PCI-DSS into and throughout the life cycle of the IT. Will prepare and maintain IT Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification and assessment processes to meet DoD or business industry standards. Recommends operational systems maintain current connection (ATC) and authorization (ATO) approvals. Ensures all AF IT cybersecurity related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals. Monitors all system changes approved through a configuration management process, are assessed for cybersecurity impacts and coordinates with ISSO, the IT Director before the other affected parties. Continuously monitors the IT and environment for security-relevant events, assesses proposed configuration changes for potential impact to the cybersecurity posture, and assesses the quality of security controls implementation against performance indicators such as security incidents, feedback from external inspection agencies, exercises and operational evaluations. Ensures cybersecurity related events or configuration changes that impact the IT authorization or adversely impact the security posture are formally reported to the ISSO. Performs periodic reviews, tests, and assessment of the IT systems in accordance with (IAW) management, organizational, DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies and PCI-DSS. Check the local vulnerability management program to comply with management, organizational, DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies and PCI-DSS. Inform the ISSO of identified and analyzed threats and vulnerabilities to the infrastructure and business systems to maintain an appropriate level of protection and PCI compliancy. Conducts audits of IT systems to ensure applicable laws and regulations are complied with, all necessary controls are in place, and systems operate as intended and provide all necessary capabilities. Ensure that IT is acquired, documented, operated, maintained, and disposed of properly and IAW DoD and AF policies. Will perform other related duties as required. Requirements

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain a CompTIA Security+ or other appropriate IA certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be a U.S. Citizen.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Knowledge of IT security principles, methods, and tool for implementing and supporting IT security applications, monitoring and evaluating system's compliance with DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies and PCI-DSS, and assessing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions. Must have 1 year of full-time IT work experience. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties per DoD 8570-M. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 3 investigation. Must have a valid driver's license. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. Every 2 years of IT related education may be substituted for 1 year of work experience. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
