Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC), Space Delta 2 at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Chief, Space Environment Monitoring (NH-0343-03).
Description:
Space Delta 2 is seeking a highly motivated teammate to manage operations and operations support of assigned space environmental monitoring systems and capabilities for seamless execution of warfighting objectives that enable dominance of the space domain. The dynamic leader will guide programmatic work of team members and cultivate relationships with technical experts from universities, government laboratories, and other government agencies both in, and outside the Department of Defense. The creative problem-solver will be challenged to integrate current and future geographically separated systems for remote sensing of ionospheric scintillation and for characterization of the solar environment in support of diverse operational strategies. Our valued colleague will ensure smooth employment of differing orbital systems for which Delta 2 is assigned satellite control authority to not only characterize the space environment, but to deliver terrestrial weather data to tactical combat units, worldwide naval fleet operations, and humanitarian and combat aircraft operations that span the globe.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum level of experience with the sequence, timing, and integration of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of; and the relationship of the various command entities involved in executing space Environmental Monitoring in support of Space Domain Awareness (SDA). Experience in operation or operational support of ground and/or space-based aerospace weather detection, dissemination, and communications sensors/systems including sustainment elements and functions for the SDA EM mission is desirable. A master's degree in a weather or a space discipline and associated experience in the EM mission area is highly desired.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of military program goals and objectives; the sequence, timing, and integration of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of EM contribution to the SDA mission; and the relationship of the various command entities involved in executing space EM in support of SDA.
2. Knowledge of aerospace weather detection, dissemination, and communications systems including operational and sustainment elements and functions for the SDA EM mission.
3. Skill in design and execution of comprehensive studies and projects, alone or with others, in support of SDA EM mission success.
4. Skill in planning and implementation of operational constructs involving various military and non-military organizational entities in order to meet EM program requirements with available resources.
5. Ability to provide alternatives to especially broad and consequential space EM-related operational, and non-operational issues for management consideration using limited but sound metric data.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance.
- This position is designated Special Sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.

Qualifications
Space and/or weather operations experience is highly desirable.
Highly desired to have recent experience in the EM mission area within the last 3 years and a master's degree in a weather or a space discipline is also desired.
