This position serves as a Program Support Assistant to the Chief Medical Officer in Primary Care Service, Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), at the Veterans Affairs Pacific Island Health Care System at the Kona, HI location. Incumbent will perform assignments involving a wide variety of duties using a broad range of audit techniques, analytical ability, and statistical knowledge to interpret varied and complex factual situations in the context of CBOC, service regulations and policies.

Duties

As the Program Support Assistant, you will: Provide support for a wide variety of administrative tasks within the service such as validating, assisting, advising, and consulting with administrative services on such matters as personnel, equipment, administration, maintenance, disaster preparedness, safety programs, and workload reports for the Clinic Analyze Clinic workflow to determine potential problem areas and make recommendations to improve coordination between various sections Identify and recommend ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or improving procedures and processes with the Clinic and Service Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant (OA)/PD022720 Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Typing Proficiency Requirement: You must certify (mention in resume) that you can type at least 40 words per minute. If you do not mention your typing speed or attest to typing 40 or more words per minute, you will NOT receive further consideration. -AND- Minimum Qualification Requirement: In addition to the Typing Proficiency Requirement (above), you must meet the GS-07 Grade Level Statement below. Your resume MUST include the following information for each applicable work and/or volunteer history to receive credit: 1) Salary (i.e., annual, hourly, or Volunteer); 2) Hours per week; and 3) MM/YY to MM/YY GS-07 Grade Level Statement: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: 1) Provide administrative support for a wide variety of tasks such as: travel, timekeeping & contracted services within a large organization/corporation; 2) Collect and analyze complex factual data (i.e., workflow, space, budget, personnel, etc.) to identify problem areas, and offering solutions to management; AND 3) Manage shared calendars, maintain files, review and prepare outgoing correspondence, maintain electronic data bases, track and monitor building/property contractors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
