The Program Support Assistant(OA) is located in the VA Roseburg Healthcare System (RVAHCS) Remote Patient Monitoring-Home Telehealth (RPM-HT) Program is to perform a variety of program support functions. The incumbent reports to the Nurse Manager (NM) of RPM-HT. The RPM-HT Program coordinates care for a wide range of eligible Veterans.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant(OA) performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties for Telehealth Services and performs office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as SharePoint, databases, spreadsheets, word documents and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work. Other duties include:
Provides administrative support for RPM-HT program objectives including management of telehealth technologies/devices.
Performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties for Telehealth Services and performs office automation.
Serves as back-up for time and leave for Telehealth Services and may assist and back up for other timekeepers across the facility.
Establishes constructive relationships with members of the organization, peers, patients, and community resources.
Provides accurate pertinent oral and written communication promptly and in a manner responsive to the customer's needs.
Serves as a point of contact for Veterans, medical center staff, community agencies, and various others who contact this office.
Contributes to content and serves as preceptor of new employees.
Establishes constructive relationships with members of the organization, peers, patients, and community resources.
Provides accurate pertinent oral and written communication promptly and in a manner responsive to the customer's needs.
Assists with receiving and processing documents and reports in accordance with established procedures.
Standardizes, organizes, maintains patient data, and retrieves a variety of computerized data.
Work one on one with the patients and the vendor to ensure communication is completed for daily patient needs.
Provides prepared education material, maps, device manuals, and other preset materials to the patient in person, via mail, or by arranging a pickup in a secure location after hours at the patient's preference.
Supports assigned meetings by completing, distributing, and posting minutes for telehealth services.
Gathers, prepares, and interprets for various admissions, discharges, and patient census reports data for the RPM-HT staff.

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Eligibility:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Working with various office automation software processing procedures and function keys and the similarities and differences among software types to produce a wide range of documents, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Employing knowledge of the broad range of patient care and administrative services at the Medical Center in order plan, implement, carry out, and advise on various activities relative to quality management/improvement. Assisting with basic financial procedures and processes, and the ability to track a wide variety of program expenses. Preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail. Communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding. This may include clerical, technical, administrative, and professional (medical and non-medical) people at all levels in the agency. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.
Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting Specialized Experience the following is required: Typing Proficiency: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying their proficiency.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary in nature. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there is walking; standing; bending and carrying of light to medium weight items such as equipment/devices, papers, books, etc. often up and down flights of stairs across the VA campus
