Duties
This position is responsible for the acquisition and management of a wide range of spatial information required to support the management of public lands.
Performs a thorough and effective mix of technical skills in the geospatial computer science.
Supports business operations and natural resource management in the BLM.

Qualifications
The salary range for a GS-7 is $46,696 - $60,703. A new GS employee is usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade (GS-7 Step 1=$46,696). This is a developmental GS-07/09/11 position.
To be eligible, an applicant must:
Recent Graduates
A Recent Graduate who has obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years or other applicable period. (Go to http://www.ed.gov/accreditation?src=rn to verify accreditation status).
Other applicable period may include: (1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe described above due to a military service obligation, shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. However, in no event, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study; and (2) Applicants who completed their educational program requirements after December 27, 2010 will have a full 2 years of eligibility beginning on the date the final regulations became effective, July 10, 2012.
Specialized Experience Requirements:
In order to assess you meet a qualified status for this position and to refer you to the hiring manager, the agency must be able to determine that you meet the qualifications based on completed education, specialized experience, and/or both - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-05) of the position to be filled.
For the GS-07 grade level, you may qualify based on:
1 full year of graduate level education
or
superior academic achievement
and/or a combination of education and experience.
Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to:
1. Experience with Geographic Information System's (GIS) related technology.
2. Experience resolving basic to moderately complex GIS issues.
3. Experience with geographic and cartographic sciences.
4. Experience with database management in order to administer geospatial databases.
5. Experience with database design principles in order to identify interrelationships within GIS data.
For the GS-0301, 07 semester hours of graduate education which is directly related to work of the position, or an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education, or Superior Academic Achievement.

Education
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at an institution that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
