This position is part of the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Information Management and Chief Information Officer, Office of Mission Integration. A successful candidate in this position will serve as Cyber Security Assessment Lead, providing technology direction that serves as the foundation for IT modernization across the NNSA by aligning organizational strategies and business processes with enabling technologies.

As a Information Technology Specialist (Cyber Security Assessment Lead), you will:
Qualifications
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-03 or GS-13. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Must meet 3 out of 4
Examples of Specialized Experience:
1. Experience applying cybersecurity principals/laws to organizational requirements.
2. Experience using computer operating systems and network computing systems.
3. Experience related to cybersecurity attack stages (e.g., reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, gainingaccess, escalation of privileges, maintaining access, network exploitation, covering tracks).
4. Experience communicating orally and written to senior leadership/authorities.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.

Education
There is no education requirement for this position and education cannot be substituted for experience.
For the NQ-04, you must have one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or grade in the federal system, i.e., NQ-03 or GS-13 grade level.
