About the Position: This position is with Headquarters (HQs), US Army Corps of Engineers, 249th ENG BN, US Army Prime Power School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 22060. Fort Leonard Wood is centrally located in MO and about a two hour drive southwest of St. Louis. Fort Leonard Wood is the home of the Engineer School, Chemical School and Military Police School. This position will be filled on a permanent basis. If you previously had applied, you must reapply to be considered.

Duties

Perform technical work on projects covering the development of training programs in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical power. Develop instruction for assigned sub-courses to conduct trainings in Electrical. Prepare criteria sheets and lessons plans to support approved Program of Instruction. Provide on-the-job training to develop assistant instructors. Utilize graded examinations and practical exercises to evaluate student performance in Electrical courses. Train students to cover a broad range of Electrical topics such as electrical theory and practice, power generation and distribution systems, and National Electric Code (NEC). Provide subject matter expertise of Prime Power Production to accomplish field activities pursuant to the introduction of new equipment, material, and techniques in the Electrical Specialty.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes assisting in course development and instruction of power plant technology covering a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in subject areas such as electrical theory and practice, power generation and distribution systems, and National Electric Code (NEC); aiding the training instructor in demonstrations pertaining to electrical and power plant technology; and evaluating student performance through graded examinations and practical exercises. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Electrical Engineering. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
