The employee will serve as the Supervisory Program Specialist at the Iowa City VA Health Care System, in Iowa City, IA. The employee is responsible for all administrative functions which would include: financial analysis, information management, performance monitoring and improvement and support in strategic.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Responsible for day-to-day administrative operations and providing direction and oversight.
Assist in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of program and project studies.
Devise new methods of automated support, such as spreadsheets to track performance measures; to complete other nonstandard assignments using varied automation technologies.
Enter pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Possess written and oral communication skills which reflect a compassionate, competent and professional response to the needs of both internal and external clients.
Prioritize, coordinate and organize numerous simultaneous work assignments and requests.
Perform the recruitment and hiring process for administrative positions.
Handle conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Communicate and treat customers, patients, their representatives, visitors and all staff in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.
Serve as a liaison between the department and other areas.
Perform other related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-9: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: being responsible for day-to-day administrative operations and providing direction and oversight; performing the recruitment and hiring process; planning, review and reporting data/statistical results; entering information into an automated tracking system; and possessing good written and oral communication skills.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-9: (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Applicants must possess at least 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GS-9: (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess (or beyond) of the first year may be used to qualify.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-11: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: being responsible for day-to-day administrative operations and providing direction and oversight; performing the recruitment and hiring process; planning, review and reporting data/statistical results; entering information into an automated tracking system; preparing reports; assisting in budget development; creating trainings as needed; possessing good written and oral communication skills.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-11: (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Applicants must possess 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M, if related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GS-11: (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Must possess equivalent combinations of graduate education and specialized experience (as described above) to meet the requirements. NOTE: Only graduate education beyond the second year may be used to qualify.
