About the Position: The Health System Specialist will work directly for the Office of the Chief, NCS. They will work with all employees within NCS (70) on ATAAPs, DMHRSI, CAFs, reporting hours/time, appraisals system, and daily administrative responsibilities. They will facilitate training of all employees, PI meetings and chief meetings. Works with contracting and monitoring hours of work for contract and Federal employees. Reports discrepancies to supervision.

Duties

Serve as an ATAAPS and DMHRSi approver or timekeeper. Serve as primary point of contact within Nutrition Care Services at Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) for all matters relating to administration and management. Assist the clinic?s administrative and clerical staff. Recommend and/or approve training for employees. Represent the clinic and department chief or service chiefs for all matters not requiring clinical judgment and may represent the chiefs at committee meetings as necessary. Prepare reports, statistical surveys, and budget requests in addition to other data necessary for the administration of the Clinic(s)/Section/Department. Serve as the DTS approver for government travel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software to produce correspondences and reports; assisting with identifying problem areas within healthcare systems and/or processes related to patient care; preparing statistical data reports for management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClericalComputer Skills Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
