Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Personnel Security Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with personnel suitability and security clearance programs to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing services that support the mission of SAMHSA, including security and public safety. Managing and administering the SAMHSA personnel suitability and security program, verifying personal identity, processing and initiating security clearance requests, conducting and adjudicating background investigation, making final suitability determinations, authorizing and administering facility access, issuing ID badges for SAMHSA personnel, administering security awareness programs. Resolving gaps in specificity or conflicts in guidelines, consistent with stated security program objectives, and participating in developing guidelines and new methods, criteria, or proposed new policies for use by other specialists and program staff within SAMHSA in administering personnel security functions.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: (if applicable) Minimum Qualifications: AT THE GS-12: Specialized Experience: To qualify for this Personnel Security Specialist position at the GS-12 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: 1. Assist primary adjudicator with reviews, assesses, or analyzes information from various sources and makes determinations on suitability and fitness. 2. Participates in projects to develop work plans for personnel security or suitability case processing operations. 3. Leads, coordinates, and develops security educational or awareness presentations. AT THE GS-13:Specialized Experience: To qualify for this Personnel Security Specialist position at the GS-13 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: 1. Assist primary adjudicator with reviews, assesses, or analyzes information from various sources and makes determinations on suitability and fitness. 2. Participates in projects to develop work plans for personnel security or suitability case processing operations. 3.Leads, coordinates, and develops security educational or awareness presentations.
