About the Position: This position is located in the Romano Mazzoli Federal Building in Louisville, Kentucky and will provide service to the following U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts: Cincinnati, OH; Buffalo, NY; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Huntington, WV; Louisville, KY; Nashville, TN; and Pittsburgh, PA.
Louisville, KY is the preferred location of the position. However, the location of this position may be negotiable when in the best interest of the agency.
Duties
Provide senior classification and position management support to the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD) classification team and assigned organizations.
Perform special reviews and surveys to make recommendations for standardized position descriptions, reorganization, expansion, consolidation of functions, establishment of trainee level and intermediate positions, and changes in skills distribution.
Analyze and classify complex and precedent-setting position descriptions.
Explain classification decisions, impact of designated duties on classification, and complaint and appeal procedures to employees, supervisors, and operating officials or managers through formal advisories and training sessions.
Conduct extensive research and provide advisory opinions to higher echelons on classification and position management items where impact can be LRD wide.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Independently researching, interpreting and applying civilian human resources classification and position management policies and practices to provide management advisory and classify position descriptions; (2) Independently researching, analyzing and evaluating a wide range of Federal sector classification theories, concepts, precedents or regulations to resolve civilian human resources issues; and (3) Utilizing a web based automated position classification records system such as FASCLASS to classify and manage position descriptions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
