Duties
This Supervisory Transportation Security Specialist position is located in the Transportation Security Operations Center, Flight Operations Branch, Flight Operations Division, Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary authority for assigned shifts in a 24/7 environment, responsible for evaluating, coordinating, and providing domain awareness and incident management and coordination related to security of the nation's transportation infrastructure. Coordinates information exchange with senior leadership to ensure decision makers are apprised of security and threat related information.
Applies working and current knowledge of transportation security policy, procedures, and technical systems in order to maintain awareness across all transportation sectors.
Directs information sharing and reporting within TSA and across organizational boundaries, including federal partner agencies, private industry, and state and local law enforcement.
Leads team efforts to enhance operational readiness, adapt to lessons learned, align work activities to mission essential functions, and to meet the current needs of the agency.
Directs and manages the work of a diverse and multi-sector workforce across a variety of work situations. Ensures employees are appropriately developed, appraised and rewarded and takes action to address performance problems.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL PROBATIONARY PERIOD REQUIREMENT: Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory probationary period to continue in this supervisory/managerial position.
Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-J or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Applying working and current knowledge of transportation security policy, procedures, and technical systems in order to maintain and provide routine domain awareness information to senior leadership; and
Directing information sharing and reporting within the organization and across organizational boundaries, including federal partner agencies, private industry, and state and local law enforcement; and
Effectively managing diverse and multi-sector teams of professionals in support of agency domain awareness and incident management activities.
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
