Duties
Operating electric powered high-lift powered forklift trucks having a lift capacity up to 4,500 pounds and capable of carrying, lifting, and stacking loads.
Receiving incoming and outgoing shipments including new procurements, receipts, and returns from using activities.
Processing and verifing quantities and condition of materials and equipment.
Completing documents, obtains signatures, maintains various records and prepares reports.
Handling hazardous materials in a safe manner for storing and movement of materials to ensure all regulations and safety requirements are met.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectees must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
- Strength test may be required.
- Selectee may be requiremed to serve a one-year probationary period.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Physical - Effort: Duties require Moderate lifting is required for objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Incumbent is required to have good eye-hand coordination and proficient vision.
- Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to low frequency noise generated by bindery equipment. The work is performed indoors, with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.
- MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN AN ELECTRIC POWERED FORK- LIFT TRUCK LICENSE.
- Must pass training on handling hazardous materials in a safe manner for storing and movement of materials.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Printing Plant Worker (Materials Handler). These duties require skill in
1. Experience handling materials such as stacking, palletization, and special handling requirements of paper products and other raw materials.
2. Safely handling and movement of hazardous materia.
3. Utilizing meters, scales, rulers, conveyors, lifts, elevators, and an inventory database.
4. Experience in techniques used in the receipt, storage, and distribution of all materials and paper .
