This position is located in the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, Nebraska. The employee must have the knowledge, skills and abilities to support all assigned programs within Extended Care & Rehabilitation (EC&R). This position will be assigned to provide support to one or more of the assigned programs within EC&R as determined appropriate by the Service Line director or direct supervisor.
Duties
The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Major duties listed but not limited to:
Provides administrative support to the Extended Care & Rehabilitation (EC&R) team in his/her daily activities to include providing direct support to their assigned department managers and to the chief of the service line
Provides full support and assistance on routine and unique administrative matters affecting the healthcare delivery system
Works independently to resolve problems associated with the administrative and clerical work of the service line
Analyzes, interprets and identifies trends in the data and being proficient in data analysis for the service line
Serves as the primary or backup Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for the service line
Troubleshoots the majority of user's basic, common computer and printer problems and reports problems appropriately
Arranges EC&R meetings, including participants and room arrangement
Schedules appointments for direct care providers as needed for all services within EC&R
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (work hours may be further discussed during the interview)
Telework: Ad Hoc: Ad Hoc telework occurs on an occasional, non-routine basis- for example, inclement weather or telework that occurs to complete short-term special assignments or to accommodate special circumstances even though the telework arrangement may occur continuously for a limited and specific period of time. VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

This position requires a Typing Proficiency of 40 WPM.
In addition to the Typing Proficiency, you may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Minimum Requirements: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: receive phone calls from patients, other departments, and any other customer to the service line, either internal or external, and independently routes the call to the correct recipient; compose routine correspondence regarding administrative support or clerical functions in the office; compose meeting minutes and other department reports independently; review all outgoing correspondence for adherence to applicable policies and procedures and ensures communication is professional, concise, clear, complete and formatted correctly; enter workload data for the service line; review organizational and missing documentation reports; proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; performs timekeeping functions for all assigned staff; and track all budgetary expenses for the department and ensure the department is on track to best utilize all exiting funds.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Work Environment: The work is performed in an office environment, with adequate lighting and climate control, with no unusual risks or discomforts. Position may require occasional travel.
