Job opening: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Salary: $83 854 - 109 011 per year

You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will operate computer aided engineering design systems to produce work orders. You will create procurement specifications to outline recommendations for modifications or alterations. You will brief sponsors, contractors and team members to convey program requirements. You will oversee the review of the contractor's quality assurance management program for compliance to contract specifications. You will educate junior personnel on engineering principles and practices.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license
  • You may be designated as ALPHA personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after special emergency situations or periods of an increased security threat..
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing technical contract documents (i.e. drawings, specifications, cost estimates) for FSC CAT3/4 construction and service contracts, to include Indefinite Quantity Work Statements for Private Contractors; 2) Training team in all aspects of execution of Category 3/4 Construction and coordinating with acquisition for award of contract actions; 3) Implementing new regulations and providing advice on execution of work; 4) Preparing detailed material and labor estimates using estimating handbooks and/or engineering performance standard for CAT 3/4 construction contracts and modifications; 5) Performing site visits and work inspections to gain further information pertaining to the scope of work, amount and type of labor and material required, and work problems anticipated in order to prepare CAT 3/4 construction, task orders, modifications, change in scope requests and estimates; and 6) Utilizing software systems for preparing specifications, making cost estimates, preparing schedules and tracking quantities.
