The primary purpose of this position is to perform administrative work in support of the Intellectual Property Management Division at a Field Operating Agency (FOA) of SAF/PA and perform analysis functions in evaluating and improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of office.

Duties

Assists analysts in preparing and maintaining licensing contracts. Aids in the monitoring of relations with licensees, affiliated manufacturers and retail distributors. Provides routine communication to internal Air Force organizations. Maintains office documents and provides management officials with assistance and information regarding the IP Management Division. Assists in collecting, computing, and assembling data for the development of the intellectual property (IP) activities. Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with coworkers, related functions, customers, and operating officials. Performs a wide variety of record keeping, updating manuals on policy and directives, reporting, and informational duties in support of the organizations programs, functions, and projects. Uses multiple office automation software capabilities to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets.

  • TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID. Refer to AFMAN 36-606 for guidance regarding centrally managed positions to determine PCS allowances.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes performing the knowledge of communication methods and techniques in order to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in information gathering techniques such as standard interview or survey. Knowledge of specialized software and programs to produce a wide range of documents requiring use of advanced software functions to enhance productivity or meet needs of complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Skill to determine best software to use to enter, maintain and retrieve organizational data; compile reports; produce charts and graphs; and/or monitor project or program status as well as the ability to design and set up necessary corresponding procedures and format. Ability to analyze, verify, and correlate data to support studies and recommendations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of technical intellectual property (IP) protection methods and organization practices and techniques. 2. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to be able to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports. 3. Knowledge of software programs to produce a wide range of documents requiring use of advanced software functions to enhance productivity or meet needs of complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. 4. Skill in applying data gathering methods to collect factual information. 5. Ability to analyze, verify, and correlate data; locate, assemble, and compose information for nonroutine reports, inquiries, and technical correspondence; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; plan; organize work; and meet deadlines. 6. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
