About the Position: This position is in the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir. Of Medicine, Emergency Medicine, San Diego, California.

Duties
Administer nebulized medications as ordered by credentialed provider, assessing patient's physiologic condition, and monitoring vital signs on initiation, during and after interventions.
Provide formal and informal education to patient or parent following medical direction.
Participate in Simulation Laboratory sessions to practice with the team on emergency procedures and protocols and stay up to date with current practice.
Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered and commensurate with training, department standard operating procedures and hospital policies and training.
Answer telephone for providers and directs inquiries appropriately. Contacts consultants as ordered by the provider.
Document patient assessments, treatments, medications, vital signs and health teachings in EMR.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting medical staff with emergency actions involving injuries or illnesses, conducting examinations to obtain patient vital signs, and operating a patient transport vehicle such as gurneys and wheelchairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
