This position serves as Attorney-Adviser to a Member of the National Labor Relations Board.
The Board is responsible for the adjudication of unfair labor practice cases and representation cases arising under the provisions of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, as amended.
Duties
As an Attorney-Adviser (Labor), GS, 0905, 13/14, your typical work assignments may include:
Handling individual cases as assigned by the Board Member that may include cases representative of the most difficult in the field of labor law.
Preparing legal memoranda setting forth the contested issues, the relevant facts, the judge's disposition of those issues, the parties' arguments, and counsel's recommendations as to how they believe the Board should resolve each contested issue.
Summarizing arguments contained in amicus briefs in cases in which the Board has invited briefing by interested members of the public.
Consulting with other staff representatives and upper management officials, including Board Members, in preparing revisions and alterations in official Board decisions and opinions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The Ideal Candidate for the Attorney-Adviser (Labor) position has working knowledge in traditional labor law. The candidate has demonstrated an ability to provide expert legal analysis and advice in an efficient manner on complicated matters. The candidate has experience drafting complex decisions and has exemplary legal research and writing skills.
BASIC REQUIREMENT
Must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American BAR Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL. B or JD).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
GS-13
To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Attorney-Adviser (Labor) at the GS-13 grade level.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience applying and making recommendations on issues concerning the National Labor Relations Act and/or the Federal Labor Management Relations Act;
Experience preparing written analysis of legal issues in complex or precedent setting cases for submission to a court, agency official, or governing board; and
Experience making oral presentations on case matters and participating in discussions, depositions, and arguments of a case.
GS-14
To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Attorney-Adviser (Labor) at the GS-14 grade level.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience reviewing proposed decisions and applicable laws and precedents to determine compliance;
Experience recommending ratifications or modifications to proposed resolutions and/or decisions for final approval; and
Experience preparing written legal analyses and opinions in cases involving controversial policies and/or issues for consideration.

BAR MEMBERSHIP AND CERTIFICATION
Applicants must be an active member of the BAR in good standing of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any Territorial court under the US Constitution. Your active BAR license must reference BAR number and indicate the status of good standing.
Education
An applicant must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL.B or JD).
Education must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement). You
