This position is located in Medical Service, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, ID. The incumbent serves as the program coordinator for three programs: the internal medicine residency program affiliated with the University of Washington; the nurse practitioner training program based at the Boise VA Medical Center; and the Center of Excellence for Primary Care Education.

Duties

Major duties include but is not limited to: Coordinates the administration of all aspects of the internal medicine residency and its integration with the Center of Excellence The incumbent is familiar with the regulations of multiple agencies and design critical elements, such as the yearly curriculum, that are in compliance with the frequent changes in these regulations and meet educational goals Responsible for the administrative coordination of the documentation of resident supervision policies, VHA privacy policies, and all other mandatory training requirements Develops tracking mechanisms, analyzes data, measures results, reports findings and makes recommendations for corrective actions as warranted by program requirements Analyzes resident evaluation data, develops specific management plans for each resident, and convenes and manages the residency program recruitment, competency, and curriculum committees Utilizes educational tools and resources to develop new residency monitoring programs and insure training requirements are met Responsible for coordination, development, and? execution of all resident schedules in such a manner as to meet training requirements for graduation and the VA's need for clinical coverage Adapts schedules and operating procedures to the changing needs of the training program and the particular trainees Installs and maintains all aspects of the electronic residency support program (Medhub) to include resident and faculty databases, program communication tools, resident procedure tracking tools, report databases, and archives Develops and completes the yearly inpatient attending physician for the facility and insures posting and updating of monthly Medical Service coverage schedules Updates and maintains an accurate resident clinic schedule in the on-line system Develops records for and convenes the curriculum, competency, and recruitment committees Produces reports as required and attends to deadlines for all partner institutions Monitors and updates medical procedure requirements for all residents Coordinates, completes, and/or assists with multiple projects related to the internal medicine residency program Monitors and verifies funding for medical? resident payroll Enters each new resident into the UW payroll system Tracks and adjusts funding throughout the year as required Tracks resident vacation and sick days and completes monthly timekeeping reports Works with staff to create approximately 20 separate interview day schedules Coordinates interview days including scheduling and communicating with applicants, scheduling rooms, ordering snacks and lunches, meeting and greeting applicants on interview days and helping to give them tours and move them between appointments Reviews monthly performance evaluations and identifies resident problem areas, defines needs, and suggests problem solutions to program director Monitors resident progress in addressing identified deficiencies and curriculum requirements Produces special residency program reports for program director review Orders the In-Training examination and arranges proctors Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performs duties with significant oversight of coordinates supervision policies, privacy policies and training requirements; maintains accurate employee schedules in online system; produces reports by required deadlines; enters new employees into payroll system. GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized includes but is not limited to: One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Independently develops tracking mechanisms, analyzes data, measures results, reports findings and makes recommendations for improvements as warranted by program requirements; utilizes educational tools and resources to develop monitoring programs and insure training requirements are met; coordinates, develops, and executes of all program participants schedules in such a manner as to meet training requirements; adapt schedules and operating procedures to the changing needs of the training program and the particular trainees; monitors adherence to budgets; tracks vacation and sick days and completes monthly timekeeping reports; reviews monthly performance evaluations and identifies program participants problem areas, defines needs, and suggests problem solutions to workgroup leadership; orders the In-Training examination and arranges proctors; directs and aids in planning of events.Typing Proficiency Requirements: In addition to meeting Specialized Experience the following is required: Typing Proficiency: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying their proficiency. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communication Compliance Computer Skills Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of small office items is required.
