About the Position: This position is located in Building 2750 on Eglin AFB, FL, work hours are normally Monday through Friday 0600-1700. Employees are given the option to work an Alternative Work Schedule that consists of 9-hour work days and allows for one day off during the work week. Work is performed in an office environment with adequate lighting, heating and ventilation. Telework may be an option for this position.

Duties
Codes inpatient encounters at a Military Medical Center (with numerous medical specialties.)
Reviews clinical documentation and assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient, inpatient professional rounds, External Resources Sharing Agreement (ERSA).
Identifies inconsistencies or discrepancies among medical documentation involved in coding encounters.
Reviews encounter and/or record documentation to identify inconsistencies or discrepancies that may cause inaccurate coding, medico-legal re-percussions or impacts quality patient care.
Provides coding and documentation advisory services to medical staff on an individual or group basis.
Codes medical records using the appropriate International Classification of Diseases (ICD- latest version) diagnosis and/or procedural codes, American Medical Association Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Basic Life Support Certification is required.
- Credentialing is required for this position
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Tuberculosis Test is required
