About the Position: Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist for the Mission Support Element (MSE) of the JRTC and Fort Polk, Louisiana staff, as such has responsibility for providing regulatory guidance and instructions to special staff and key personnel concerning all logistical functional programs and areas. Responsible for assuring those critical actions are integrated and properly executed to provide a cohesive approach to logistics support requirements.
Duties
Develop plans for future budget requirements and serves as a technical expert in the administration of logistics contract, with responsibility for procurement, maintenance services, and supply services provided under this contract.
Monitor overall organizational compliance with milestones and performance criteria, discusses issues with organization representatives.
Develop and presents briefings, reports, analyses, and recommendations regarding activity system/equipment logistics readiness at senior command conferences, presentations, or meetings.
Comprehensive knowledge of negotiation techniques to be able to negotiate procurements of extensive services, complex equipment, and/or construction projects.
Develop logistics evaluation criteria to measure contractor progress in meeting program objectives.
Ensure appropriate funding and required waivers, certifications, approvals, and compliances have been obtained for purchase requests.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) conducting staff studies covering all aspects of logistical operations to isolate and analyze functions that indicate a high potential for improvement through automation or changes in business practices; 2) reviewing or coordinating data collection with logistical activities to complete reporting requirements such as status reports, etc.; and 3) reviewing or evaluating the status of programs to determine resources in terms of facilities funding or personnel utilization necessary to accomplish the organization's logistical objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
