Duties
With selection at the GS-12 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.
Conducts studies and analyses of assigned materials and serves as the expert and advisor on the packaging, storage, handling and selection for inclusion in sales solicitations for these commodities.
Prepares cost estimates and recommendations, which are used by the Directorate to determine long- and shortrange financial planning. These estimates include the....
....cost of physical space, security requirements, maintenance and rehabilitation of storage facilities and repackaging projects.
Develops nationwide policy and procedural changes for a specific group or strategic and critical commodities based upon the results of program evaluations and studies.
Develops storage and transportation requirements for inclusion in acquisition and sales contracts in addition to developing recommendations for overall storage and space requirements for the newly acquired commodities.
Develops and administers property operations, maintenance, physical security and accountability processes, property disposal requirements and processes.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Commodity Logistics Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
GS-12
Experience with storage requirements of commodities, or a knowledge of basic science (metallurgy, chemistry), and business economics.
Experience with planning and operational aspects of managing the packaging, receipt, storage, costs, and disposal of materials and how these activities relate to, or require input to other stockpile functions such as contracting and inventory management.
Experience with storage matters such as space management, inventory control, materials handling, preservation, and maintenance of assigned commodities.
A broad knowledge of buildings and grounds management practices for operation and maintenance of storage facilities including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
GS-13
Experience with and proficiency in storage requirements of National Defense Stockpile commodities, or a knowledge of basic science (metallurgy, chemistry), and business economics.
Expert experience with planning and operational aspects of managing the packaging, receipt, storage, costs, and disposal of materials and how these activities relate to, or require input to other stockpile functions such as contracting and inventory management.
Expert experience with storage matters such as space management, inventory control, materials handling, preservation, and maintenance of assigned commodities.
A vast knowledge of buildings and grounds management practices for operation and maintenance of storage facilities including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
