The incumbent serves as the primary Surgical Service point of contact for affiliation organizations to manage Residency and School programs. Liaison to the Resident Coordinators of various local Medical Colleges and Universities. Coordinates pre-assessment requirements, administrative support during rotations, and assists Attending(s) with Resident Supervision Program.

Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to; Schedule and review work activities performed in an office, including reporting and record keeping. Review and direct incoming documentation/inquiries and takes personal action when applicable or directs to appropriate staff as needed. Coordinates, collaborates, and schedules all matters concerning Resident Coordinating Maintain office compliance regarding regulations, policies, and guidelines as established. Identifies special equipment needs to administrative staff within surgery or SPD for arrangements and delivery. Maintain calendar for residents, i.e. scheduling appointments. Collects data pertaining to the residents and provides analysis and recommendations. Utilizes Medical Center Policies and Memorandum dealing with case deadlines and vendor issues. Abstracts information for improving organizational performance, utilization review purposes and assisting with monitoring and evaluation of the Resident Coordinator program. Receive incoming calls from, clients, staff, and others in need of information. Execute and prepare responses to routine correspondence and reports. Manages residents, determines schedules, and implements best practices through analysis. Perform office automation work on personal computer utilizing multiple programs to complete documentation. Utilize a range of office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, telephone, etc.). Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/01/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information; determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods. Effectively expresses information to multiple audiences through clear, convincing oral and written communications; demonstrates logical thinking when describing facts and concepts, and shapes communications to meet the needs of a specific audience; actively listens to others and demonstrates understanding of their comments and/or questions. Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: ClericalCommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes Information Preferred Experience; 5+ years of Residency background experience Administration of a residency program Scheduling of student rotations Residency management system knowledge Maintaining resident training records, certification and licensure tracking Understanding of curricula Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortable to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
