This position is located at the Primary Care Nursing Service at VA El Paso Health Care System - El Paso VA Clinic in El Paso, TX. The incumbent serves as Program Support Assistant (OA) to the Office of Associate Director for Nursing and Patient Services, under Primary Care Nursing Section in support of the Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT).
Duties

The Program Support Assistant performs a wide variety of administrative and technical functions associated with maintaining and supporting the overall operations of Primary Care Nursing and special programs. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Managing multiple timelines and projects with the ability to effectively deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities among multiple activities which require quick and effective action under
Working collaboratively with all clinical services and ancillary services, Eligibility, Business Office, and other departments throughout the El Paso VA Health Care System (EPVAHCS
Collecting, compiling and/or tracking of statistical information in support of program operations; receiving and processing documents and reports in accordance with established procedures; using sophisticated software applications to collate information from various sources; and assisting in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program studies
Participating in quality improvement processes related to PACT and offers performance improvement assistance to PACT Nursing Staff
Managing the Service's SharePoint site and other directories where information is stored
Maintaining confidentiality in communicating sensitive information and in handling confidential materials
Researching regulations, policies and standard operating procedures to develop recommendations for managers and staff, identifies and resolves problems arising from internal administrative management activities
Assisting with the analysis of annual training needs and requirements of nursing staff to ensure required training is accomplished
Attending meetings of appropriate Boards and Committees as delegated, with ability to respond to questions concerning related service issues, and to report meeting content to Nurse Managers and Administrative Officer
Assisting in the preparation of written materials, coordinate appropriate outreach and marketing activities as assigned
Performing PIV sponsor/manager tasks and ADPAC activities
Assisting with Human Resources processes such as monitoring staff movement and coordinates personnel actions and assisting with recruitment process
Serving as the primary timekeeper including maintaining accurate time and attendance records and
accurately inputs data into VATAS in a timely fashion
Serving as the Records Liaison and conducing records management tasks
Creating, processing, and tracking work orders for all Primary Care Nursing activities and programs
Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the area regarding matters such as directions, information for contacting various departments, services, and requests for changes
Using MS Word or comparable word processing software, MS Excel or other comparable spreadsheet software, MS PowerPoint or other comparable graphics software, and the Veterans Health Information & Technology Architecture (VistA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System
Assisting the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Managers, and Administrative officer and nursing staff with routine daily requirements and other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as a Program Support Assistant (OA) in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met.
Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-05). Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: performing administrative duties in an office setting; answering phones; interacting with customers; and utilizing various computer software program. (CLEAR DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must show complete information for each job entry, such as beginning and ending dates of employment, duties performed, and/or total hours worked per week.)
AND
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary, although there is frequent walking, standing, bending, sitting and carrying of light items no more than 15 pounds is necessary. Bending and carrying light items such as files, books and papers are required. Incumbent will be required to type on a daily basis for several hours. No special physical demands are outlined.
