About the Position: The position is located within MEDDAC, Evans Army Community Hospital, Patient Administration Division, Medical Records Branch at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Ability to determine the validity of requests and authority for release of health information to various requestors Ability to operate various office machines such as a facsimile, copier, computer terminal and digital CD equipment in order to prepare correspondence in the processing of requests for health information and preparation of various reports. Ability to pull only information from electronic and hard copy records that provides a direct response to the documentation requested in order to maintain efficiency and legal compliance Assess and resolve customer inquiries and/or complaints promptly to ensure quality customer service is provided.

Requirements

  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Requires ability to lift 25-35 lbs.
  • May be required to use a pushcart with load weighing 75+ lbs.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may be required to work rotating shifts.
  • A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is required.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position; you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • A pre-employment physical may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes answering phone calls, greeting patients and/ or visitors; reviewing medical records for accuracy and using automated systems to enter data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.
