The primary purpose of this position is to serves as a Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Transmissions and Payload Controller, in support of a Wideband SATCOM Operations Center (WSOC).
Duties
Provides advice and instructions to other satellite controllers on technical work and operational processes.
Studies directives and criteria emanating from higher authorities and based on analysis of this documentation develops, implements, directs, and manages specific guidelines and procedures to be applied in executing work applicable to Wideband SATCOM and all functional and associated SATCOM and satellite areas.
Supports Force Modernization fielding efforts at the local site.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Three years of progressively responsible general work experience with one year of that experience equivalent to the NH-01 grade level, which provides a basic knowledge of telecommunications functions, problems, and/or solutions.

EDUCATION: Completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge Wideband SATCOM systems and operations sufficient to serve as a technical advisor to other satellite controllers.
Ability to configure and operate Wideband satellite systems, management, planning, and tools to ensure authorized levels of performance.
Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
