Decision Support Service (DSS) allows workload to be defined by department, product and direct/hire costs to be associated with the delivery of specific health care services inpatient and outpatient areas. Primary responsibilities are associated with coordinating capture, and validation of patient-level workload, education of medical center staff and assisting in the development of automated and manual systems for integrating cost data with clinical workload.

Duties

Assists the DSS Site Manger in the implementation of the DSS system throughout the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. Reviews all DSS program requirements, specifically pertaining to clinical workload documentation and recording requirements. Develops constructive suggestions for system improvement. Analyzes existing automated and manual data collection systems to determine availability of financial, clinical, and accounting information. Interacts daily with service chiefs, line supervisors, and administrative personnel. Coordinates and assists in posting of monthly data from VHA feeder systems. Audits input data source documents in order to validate raw data input. Operates various desktop calculators to prepare cost accounting analysis, reports, and worksheets. Bargaining Unit: This position is covered by AFGE bargaining unit. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
