Duties
Receives and Inspects stock.
Stacking, moving, and arranging items on pallets and must consider height, weight, and special handling requirements.
Reconciles delivery of stock, processing and verification of the quantity and condition of materials and equipment handled.
Operate warehouse tractors, fork lifts, tugs and trucks, and other general purpose vehicles and perform routine operator maintenance.
Operates PC based programs to retrieve and generate reports.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectees must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
- Strength test may be required.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Physical - Effort: Duties require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing. A moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved.
- Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to low frequency noise generated by bindery equipment. The work is performed indoors, with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a PPW (Materials Handler). These duties require skill in
* Inspecting stock for obvious defects and rejects damaged rolls.
* Filing and maintaining delivery receipts according to standard procedures.
* Assisting Presspersons with placing roll stock onto press spindles, making certain there is sufficient air to maintain roll firmly in place.
* Recording roll data such as roll number, weight, and property number according to established procedures.
