About the Position: Incumbent will Manage the daily administration of schedules for Service Members, their families and all personnel assigned as providers and support staff in conjunction with the patient schedules at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Dept. of Surgery, Otolaryngology.

Duties
Manage the daily administration of pre-operative and post-operative schedules.
Provide administrative support to include prepare surgical reports; independently develop and track schedules, adjust templates, track
utilization of spaces, and ensure equipment is available.
Coordinate clinical evaluations, treatments, research and support locations and manage appointment booking in automated systems.
Resolve logistical and scheduling related problems which require coordination and collaboration with other agencies within the DoD, and other federal and civilian academic collaborators.
Independently develop and track schedules, adjust templates, track utilization of spaces, and ensure equipment is available.
Prepare surgical reports, oversees the overall surgery scheduling activities and communicates processing of equipment.
Coordinate and carry out successive steps in fact finding and analysis of issues necessary to complete assigned duties.
Initiate, maintain and provide technical data regarding space, personnel and equipment utilization.
Coordinate with surgeons and clinic schedulers to input surgical cases, patient data and post-operative recovery locations in order to optimize surgical flow.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating with providers and clinic schedules to avoid and resolve scheduling conflicts; manipulating scheduling templates according to provider availability; inputting scheduling data into an automated healthcare systems such as, MHS Genesis and SchApptBook. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
