You will serve as a in the Materials Handler in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Duties

You will unload, process incoming shipments, reporting over, short, or damaged conditions. You will keep record of materials or items received and distributed. You will select material and fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools or other items. You will perform the full range of material handling, and forklift operation, and warehousing functions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You may be coded as "key" and as such may be required to be removed from military recall status. A signed statement of understanding is required.
  • You must be willing to obtain and maintain a government license for all assigned equipment, including forklifts.
  • You will be required to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks demonstrated through experience working under close supervision receiving, issuing, handling, storing, and inventorying, supplies, equipment, and materials, in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage; documenting discrepancies; reading shipping and tracking documents; complying with prescribed proper handling and storage procedures; operating materials handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
