You will serve as a Material Handler Inspector Leader in the Ordinance Operations Division of NMCLANT DET PATUXENT RIVER MD.

Duties

You will perform inspections to determine adequacy of operations and facilities. You will monitor work in progress for compliance with security, safety and good housekeeping practices, governing directives, supervisors' instructions, and the status of work schedules. You will ensure materials, tools, drawings, blueprints and other required directives on the job site.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an explosives hazardous materials drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current material handling equipment (MHE) operator's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States Commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Ammunition and Explosive Qualification certification program.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current conventional ordnance/ explosives handling qualifications certification.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE * Ability to provide cross training in functional areas to lower level employees. * Ability to lead a team and hold members of the team accountable. * Ability to coordinate, lead and assist work crews in performing all described ordnance functions and operations. * Ability to ensure all personnel are in compliance with safety regulations. * Ability to coordinate, lead, and assist work crews in performing all described ordnance functions and operations. * Ability to lead three or more employees in ordnance functions and operations. * Ability to review SOP's with the work group and assure adherences to the procedures and other governing directives. * Ability approve transportation conveyance as suitable for loading and the blocking and bracing of the conveyance and load. * Ability to work alone, with others and set the pace. * Ability to urge or advise other workers to follow instructions received form supervisors and to meet the deadlines.
