You will serve as a Materials Handler in the Supply Management Department Mid-Atlantic of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.
Duties
You will operate forklifts and trucks holding a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more.
You will utilize computer systems to track materials.
You will analyze government bills of lading to ensure proper amount of materials is received.
You will receive, unload and process incoming shipments and organize materials based on type of material and condition including hazardous materials.
You will determine the docking area most convenient for off-loading and on-loading of motor vehicles
You will organize and arrange stock that follows warehouse regulations.
You will monitor shelf-life of material and dispose of materials as needed.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator License.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You must be willing and able to accept a "Key" position. This entails continued performance of duties and responsibilities during periods of national emergencies and/or mobilization.
- You will be responsible for lifting weight of 40 pounds or more.
- You must be able to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform the duties of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience working under normal supervision receiving, storing, and assembling for issue, shipment, and distribution; operating material handling equipment including forklifts; reviewing shipping documents; utilizing computerized systems; loading and unloading trucks; following prescribed regulations regarding materials storage; using prescribed modes of transportation to move materials to shipping dock; handling HAZMAT; identifying errors/inaccurate information regarding materials; selecting materials for shipment.
