Duties
This is an excepted service appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program. This appointment is a one year career development program. At the successful completion of the program requirements, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional appointment. For more information on the Pathways Program, please visit: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/hiring-information/students-recent-graduates/If selected for this position, you will serve as a Management Analyst for the Strategic Communications Staff, Executive Office for United States Attorney's(EOUSA). Duties include:
Receives and reviews all in-coming correspondence to the Office of the Director (OTD), EOUSA. Correspondence originates from a wide variety of sources, including the White House, Congress, the public, prisoners, USAOs, other Federal agencies, and private organizations. For correspondence involving recurring or well-precedence matters, the employee coordinates with supervisor to initiate action in appropriate tracking data base and routes correspondence, along with any supporting documents and background information, to appropriate staff member.
Drafts outgoing correspondence that will be reviewed by supervisor for content and style. The range of complexity, subject matters and situations addressed in correspondence will grow as the employee progresses.
Assists with procedural and programmatic facets of EOUSA's awards programs to include Attorney General's Awards, EOUSA Director's Awards, and numerous external awards presented by non-DOJ organizations.
Assists and advises EOUSA and U.S. Attorneys' Office personnel on procedural and administrative aspects of award actions and requests.
Reviews and evaluates all awards documents submitted to ensure that the material is properly related to the issue or request, that appropriate coordination has been accomplished, procedural requirements have been met, style and grammar are correct and procedural guidance has been followed. Returns material to appropriate individuals for correction as necessary.
Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the office. The level of complexity related to assignments will grow as the employee progresses. In a developmental capacity, assists with non-complex programmatic activity related to budget administration, personnel administration, space management, purchasing, information resource communication services, supplies, etc.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications
To be eligible for a recent graduate appointment, ALL of the following requirements must be met:
Recent Graduates must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying accredited educational institution within the previous 2 years unless military service interfered with a veteran's eligibility to apply during that two year time frame. Veterans meeting the above exclusion may apply within 2 years of discharge or 6 years from the date of receipt of the degree whichever comes first. Recent graduates must be United States citizens or owe permanent allegiance to the United States. (Currently, natives of American Samoa, Swains Island and certain inhabitants of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are the only groups that owe permanent allegiance to the United States.)
You must successfully complete a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
All recent graduates are required to sign a Pathways Recent Graduate Participant Agreement.
Recent Graduates serve a trial period for the entire duration of their excepted service appointment.
Qualification requirements as outlined below:
GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized experience, education, OR a combination of education and experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as drafting routine correspondence for supervisor review; receiving and routing telephone calls and visitors; maintaining office calendars and/or meeting schedules; preparing travel vouchers and making travel arrangements; and maintaining office files and ensuring they are compliant with regulatory guidance.
OR
Education: One year of graduate education in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement as follows: To be eligible for SAA, you must have a Bachelor's degree and one of the following. 1. A standing in the upper third of your college class or major subdivision at the time you apply. 2. A grade point average of "B" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent for all courses completed; (a) at the time of application; or (b) during the last two years of undergraduate curriculum. 3. A "B+" (3.5 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent for all courses completed in a qualifying major field of study, either; (a) at the time of application; or (b) during the last 2 years of your undergraduate curriculum. 4. Election to membership in one of the national honorary societies (other than freshman societies). Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
Education
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at an institution that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
