You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the Data Management Branch, Ocean Analysis Division, Ocean Project Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will serve as a consultant in computer science to departmental IT users and administrators.
You will design, install, modify and manage network infrastructure.
You will implement information assurance (IA) practices and configure networks to meet departmental requirements consistent with security policies.
You will develop and monitor project schedules consistent with plans and specifications, estimating time, and sequencing project elements.
Requirements

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 45 level II within 12 months of appointment.
- Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. The incumbent must earn a minimum of 40 hours of cyber IT/CSW related credits annually.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing systems administration for DOD information technology (IT) systems;
Experience managing IT networks;
Experience implementing information assurance (IA) policies;
Experience configuring security settings on Windows and Linux systems.
GS-11
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience assisting higher level employees providing systems administration for DOD information technology (IT) systems.
Experience managing IT networks.
Experience implementing information assurance (IA) policies.
Experience configuring security settings on Windows and Linux systems.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
