The Recent Graduates Program targets individuals who have graduated recently from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, career development program.
Duties
Provides advice, guidance, and assistance to the DISA subordinate directors on diverse, complex, and hazardous conditions that may require specialized safety approaches.
Develops reports and presents briefings concerning the status of the safety program.
Plans, controls, and evaluates a comprehensive safety and occupational health program in accordance with all statutory and regulatory requirements and guidance.
Consults and coordinates with other subject matter experts to resolve hazards and/or develop safety and risk management policy and procedures.
Develops/recommends changes in operating procedures, safety equipment, etc. to eliminate or control hazards detected.
Duties will be developmental in nature

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Qualifications
Basic Requirement:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR
Experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. OR
Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination meets the requirements for GS-5. Applicants may also qualify for higher grade levels based on their education and/or experience.
Specialized Experience for the GS-07, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-05 if outside the Federal service, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as experience providing assistance to supervisors on OSHA projects, tasks, and assignments.

Education
Substitution of education for GS-07: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision after completing a bachelor's degree.
To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application.
