The Office of Protective Services, NASA Headquarters Protective Services Office, is seeking a Security Specialist. In this role, you will manage the physical security, information security, and industrial security programs as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for the East Region Protective Services Contract. In compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the NASA FAR, you will also provide regular, accurate budget reporting, projection, and accounting.
Duties
Establish surveillance and reporting processes in accordance with a Statement of Work (SOW), to ensure contractor compliance with Service Level Agreements and contract requirements.
Ensure corrective action plans are developed and executed when issues or discrepancies arise. Establish measurements to ensure resolution and implement necessary action to ensure long-term resolution.
Coordinate with the Center Chief of Security and Division Director on all aspects of security planning, operations, direction, and resource management.
Manage facility physical security modernization projects and integrate new ideas and equipment into the current security framework to enhance monitoring and response capabilities.
Identify gaps and provide effective solutions to operational and technical issues.
Manage HQ security Communications Security (COMSEC) operations, equipment, and facilitate access and overall management of the HQ facility reading room Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) for the HQ community customer base.
Assist Headquarters Emergency Management Officer.
Requirements
- Position subject to pre-employment background security investigation.
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

- The selectee is required to meet the criteria for use of a firearm in accordance with the Federal Arrest Authority.
- The selectee is required to meet the standard and training qualifications in strict compliance with 14 CFR, Chapter V, Part 1203b.103, Security Programs Arrest Authority, and Use of Force by NASA Security Force Personnel.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Identifying, resolving, or overseeing resolution of security related issues;
Providing contract oversight and coordinating objectives for specialized security programs such as information security, industrial security, or physical security;
Performing security studies and evaluating program effectiveness to include working with Classified National Security Information (CNSI);
Working with a variety of state-of-the-art security equipment and devices used in planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures.
