You will serve as a PROGRAM SPECIALIST (WEIGHT HANDLING EQUIPMENT) in the LIFTING & HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will detect problems and adverse trends concerning the attributes of work within the Shipyard's Weight-Lifting and Handling Equipment (WHE) Program to determine the shops/codes responsible and recommend and monitor corrective actions.
You will function as a technical consultant developing procedures and technical requirements for crane, rigging, and related work.
You will develop methods for inspection, process control, and related quality control measures in conjunction with Shipyard organizations.
You will advise on the development and preparation of crane and rigging process instructions, procedures and recommends modifications to improve WHE programs.
You will review contracts that are initiated by the Shipyard to ascertain whether NAVSEA/Navy Crane Center requirements are being complied with.
You will determine the root cause of problems and the adequacy and completeness of corrective actions relative to achieving overall standards requirements.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience applying qualitative and quantitative analyses techniques to lifting and handling operations, processes, and procedures, identifying deficits, and recommend resolutions needed to meet established program goals.
