This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Springfield, Virginia.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to function as a senior IT Specialist and lead complex IT work projects and assignments. The incumbent will provide analysis and advice on complex program related information technology (IT) issues or problems to meet agency missions. Duties performed:
Manages special projects that have a significant impact on the delivery of customer support services.
Represents the customer support office in planning for the installation and implementation of new systems (e.g., upgrade to a new operating system).
Keeps abreast of changes in customer mission requirements through interaction with management in customer organization.
Analyzes, designs, develops, customizes, and implements a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large-scale Local Area Network and Wide Area Network systems.
Provides technical support to computer personnel and users throughout the agency engaged in the development and implementation of the systems and subsystems required to meet the data processing needs of the agency.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Experience requirements as noted below.
You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies:
(1) Attention to Detail- Implementing changes to IT systems;
(2) Customer Service - Recommending changes needed to address customer requirements;
(3) Oral Communication- Clearly communicating customers' needs to development teams; and
(4) Problem Solving - Troubleshooting customer issues to find a resolution.
AND
Specialized Experience:GS-12: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Supporting IT projects related to delivery of customer service;
Recommending improvements to implementation plans for new systems;
Providing technical advice to others regarding IT systems; and
Analyzing existing databases to recommend upgrades.
