This position is located in the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) within the Medical Administrative Service at the Valley Coastal Bend Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. The incumbent will report directly to the Mobility Manager.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Scheduling, Data Collection & Tracking Support: Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS). Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Collates in-coming data from a variety of sources. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Receives DSS extracts to verify that the workload being captured in DSS is con-ec.t. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Performance Measures Support: Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas. Plans consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Provides procedural support in administering quality monitors to be utilized in the internal consultation process to measure the success of efforts to provide seamless care and to support the education of staff in the proper use of the electronic record, to include internal consultation processes.
Coordination, Program Planning and Advisory Services: Assists the Mobility Manager in planning and directing programs that provide VTS support services functions. Review workload types in Veteran Transportation Service e.g. out patient clinic visits, surgical admissions. On a daily basis validate program workload and ensure reporting is accurate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/25/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to knowledge and application of transportation regulations, directives, policy procedures, performance measure and guideline relating to VA medical benefits administration; collects, compiles, and tracks statistical data supporting the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS); analyzes data and generates reports; reviews documents, reports and/or applications for completeness and accurate data entry; office automation abilities to track service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, performance trends; interacts with other transportation services providers; tracks process of internal consultations; coordinates, reviews and validates program workload; knowledge of consult management, scheduling admissions, discharge, transfer and admissions; proficient using software programs; and ability to communicate with patients, customers, and medical center staff.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
