This position is located at George Washington Memorial Parkway in the Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.

Duties
The primary duties of the maintenance mechanic include but are not limited to the following:
Constructs, alters, modifies a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities.
Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment.
Paints and refinishes variety of interior and exterior surfaces of offices and buildings.
Uses power and hand tools safely.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the Work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use of measuring instruments
Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of materials
