This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Utilizing practical electrical and electronic controller knowledge to troubleshoot problems with security systems.
Providing recommendations to solve fire and safety, alarm, closed circuit TV (CCTV), network video recorder (NVR), and network video issues.
Overseeing electrical contractor installation work.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
Qualifications
To qualify for the Security Specialist, PG - 0080 - 12 , you must meet the following requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-11 pay band in the federal service that includes:
Assisting with troubleshooting security systems including CCTV, Network Video Recorders, and fire and safety issues.
Performing electrical and wiring installation work and repairs for fire and safety alarms, CCTV, and NVRs.
Making recommendations for Physical Security safety and security equipment requiring access to sensitive/classified information.
Programming fire alarms and security systems, including electrical and electronic control ability.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used or this grade level.
