You will serve as a Firefighter (Basic Life Support) in the Fire Rescue Division, Installation and Logistics Department of MCRD ERR PI SC.

Duties

You will drive apparatus to scene of emergencies following specified routes or select alternate routes as necessary. You will respond to medical emergencies and perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). You will provide for the rescue and on-scene care of victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injury or other incidents requiring medical attention. You will perform fire prevention inspections of buildings, fuel storage areas, vehicles, outside storage, etc., for fire safety discrepancies and advise on fire safety practices.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
  • You will be required to have a current Hazmat Awareness certification through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Professional Qualifications Standard (NPQS), or Department of Defense (DoD).
  • You will be required to have a current Hazmat Operations certification through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Professional Qualifications Standard (NPQS), or Department of Defense (DoD).
  • You will be required to have a current Hazmat Technician certification through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Professional Qualifications Standard (NPQS), or Department of Defense (DoD).
  • You will be required to have a current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification through the National Registry of EMT's, and/or the State of South Carolina.
  • You will be required to have a current Firefighter I and II certification through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Professional Qualifications Standard (NPQS), or Department of Defense (DoD).

Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing emergency medical treatment to include but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and rescue of patients in confined spaces and auto extrications, and part of an emergency response team performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures; structural firefighting; responding to hazardous material emergency operations. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing emergency medical treatment to include but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and rescue of patients in confined spaces and auto extrications; structural firefighting operations; responding to hazardous material emergency operations.
