You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS) in the G-3,OPERATIONS & TRAINING DEPARTMENT, FIRE DIVISION of MCRD ERR PI SC.
Duties
You will perform duties as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), responding to medical emergencies.
You will respond to hazardous materials emergencies as a member of a hazardous materials response team serving in the various roles required of the operation from first responder to technician to incident commander.
You will prepare technical reports on hazardous conditions, and make recommendations for corrective action.
You will provide group direction to a group of firefighters, and plan and schedule assignments in a manner consistent with overall plans set forth by management of the Fire Rescue Division.
You will assign work and ensure day-to-day tasks are carried out, and make available written instructions and guidelines, reference materials, and supplies.
You will provide on-the-job training in accordance with established practices.
You will direct the assigned engine company in responding to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, hazardous materials incidents, confines space rescue emergencies, high angle rescue, water rescue and other emergencies.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Must be certified to and maintain certification in the following levels: Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, EMT-BLS (National Registry), Hazardous Materials Technician.
- You will be required to participate in the MCRD Parris Island FESD Physical Fitness Program.
- You will be required to participate in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing leadership for day to day emergency and non-emergency responsibilities and duties; providing training regarding fire prevention or emergency procedures; and evaluating subordinate fire fighter performance.
