This position is located in the Community Care Department of the Chief Of Staff's Office located at the VA Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. This position is responsible for carrying out a variety of health information functions.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Receives, scans, indexes, and destructs health and administrative information; Indexes each scanned document into a SQL database; Ensures that all necessary health/administrative information is integrated into Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) through the PC scanning software and hardware; Communicates with clinical and administrative team members; Maintains a daily productivity log of scanning and indexing activities; Tracks, retrieves and performs follow-up activities on health records; Assures the completeness of health records; and Performs other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

Experience: To qualify for this position, you must possess one (1) year of General Experience, that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this File Clerk. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. ~OR~ Education Substitution: You must have two (2) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, community college, junior college, college or university. (COPY OF OFFICIAL/UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) ~OR~ Combination of Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of creditable General Experience and Education as described above, to meet total qualification requirements for this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, community college, junior college, college or university. (COPY OF OFFICIAL/UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: CommunicationsPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
